On 22nd and 23 January 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) and the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital the kick-off meeting of the project “GENDER-HehS: Enhancing Gender Perspectives in Higher Education for Healthcare Students.”
The GENDER-HehS project, selected under the ERASMUS+ KA220-HED: Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education call, is an educational innovation project aimed at promoting the development of transversal competencies in gender perspectives among university students in the field of health sciences, including medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, nutrition, and related disciplines.
On the first day of the kick-off meeting, the different work packages of the project were presented, followed by discussions on the specific details of each phase. On the second day, two guided visits were conducted to innovative facilities at the Germans Trias Hospital: the Therapeutic Kitchen, presented by the Head of the Endocrinology and Nutrition Department, Núria Alonso, and the Birth Centre, presented by supervisor Chiara Capece. The group particularly enjoyed these visits and acknowledged the innovative contribution of these services to improving person-centred care.
The NURECARE nursing research group at IGTP, with the participation of the Teaching Unit of Medicine and Nursing, leads this project. With a duration of 36 months, the project brings together a strong international and institutional consortium, including the University of Primorska – Faculty of Health Sciences (Slovenia), Nord University (Norway), Hacettepe University (Turkey), TecnoCampus, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital, and the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) (Spain).
